Lunch Manners and the Implications

February 24, 2016

I eat at my desk while I’m working, most workdays. I don’t have a long lunch break and lately, I’d much rather take a walk outside in my limited time, than spend it eating. Despite February having the rap for the coldest month of the year, this one has brought Spring-like conditions so far (and we’re almost all the way through).

But, I digress… back to lunch talk, my favorite kind of talk.

If I happen to bring soup for lunch, I eat with the bowl under my chin so I don’t spill on my scarf. I also slurp from the side of the bowl or Tupperware if I think no one is looking (quietly – I’m not an animal… sheesh, people!). Alright, you got me: I am a bit of an animal. I hope my mother doesn’t read this blog. Who am I kidding: she’s not reading this. My mother is a busy lady, and ain’t no busy ladies got no time for foolish blogs! Please re-read that last sentence in the best Southern accent you can muster… and read it out loud. Be silly, why not? That’s fine by me. Would someone from the South even really structure a sentence that way? I don’t even know, but I like to think they would. Bless their hearts.

I did tell a coworker about this blog and I even called it by name. So, that happened. Hopefully he’ll never get bored enough in his life to read this. However, if he does, now he’ll know about my soup days. Matt, if you’re out there in the blog-o-sphere, it’s probably best if you don’t walk by on soup days. It’ll only have you questioning my professionalism and let’s face it: there’s probably enough of that going on already. Thank you kindly and ya best be movin’ on.

For everyone else who isn’t Matt (the particular one I mentioned before, not just any Matt), what do you do in your cubicle when you think no one is paying attention? Nevermind, we’re not that close and I don’t want to know. I sure don’t want to be implicated with any of this talk. The admittance of the way I eat soup is bad enough. Let’s just make this a short one today and leave it at that. Thanks for reading and Happy Lunching!
